Each year, the Shelter Sunday Coalition seeks 100 or so volunteers to canvass the neighborhoods of Northampton, Florence, and Leeds. It only takes a couple of hours, and volunteers are welcome to canvass with family or friends. No experience necessary, and we offer helpful hints to make this a very simple process. Just a couple hours of your time will help hundreds of homeless individuals throughout the course of the year.

Mission Statement
"The mission of Shelter Sunday is to raise funds for a coalition of nonprofit agencies providing food, shelter, and other services to people in the Northampton area who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, and to involve community members in supporting these important services."
Description
Shelter Sunday is a special day each year when community volunteers go door to door collecting donations to support local homeless shelters, emergency housing, and survival services. The funds raised on this one day help hundreds of homeless individuals and families obtain essential services. Last year, we raised over $40,000 in Northampton, and this year's goal is to raise $50,000 by enlisting 100 volunteers to canvass the entire city of Northampton.
All of the homeless shelters are full throughout the year, and the waiting lists are long. However, Northampton has shown its commitment to building a stronger community by helping those with the most need.
The Shelter Sunday Coalition consists of six local organizations that serve the homeless. Proceeds directly benefit the individuals and families that these organizations serve. Each of these organizations is committed to helping the homeless in our community.
