ORGANIZATION: The San Diego River Park Foundation

The Point Loma Native Plant Garden is home to a beautiful collection of plants and trees native to San Diego and Southern California cared for by an all volunteer friends group. The site has a trail system, native plant nursery and more. The Friends of the garden seek people with an interest in helping to care for and maintain this wonderful garden twice per month. No experience necessary, all are welcome. The events involve light gardening and maintenance, watering and meeting new people. All tools and supplies provided. The Friends meet the 1st Saturday and the 3rd Sunday of each month from 9am-11am at the garden.

The San Diego River Park Foundation is dedicated to fostering stewardship and appreciation of the region’s namesake waterway. In order to protect and enhance the San Diego River as a place for recreation, habitat, and nature discovery, we are dedicated to engaging people to be stewards of the River and working towards the vision of a 52 mile, river-long system of parks, open spaces, and community places.

Description

We organize many different volunteer stewardship activities each month. River Cleanups, native plant gardening, habitat restoration, volunteer leadership, water quality testing, outreach and education, special event committees, technical committees and more.
