Webmaster needed for domestic violence website

We maintain a website designed to give important information and resources to victims of domestic violence. It also has information for shelters, safe houses, and advocacy groups.

We need help updating and improving the site, which can be seen at goaskrose.com. That URL is intended to look fairly benign in a browser history if the individual forgets to clear it. The site was previously hosted on our server, which also hosts opsecprofessionals.org. A previous volunteer added GoAskRose to another server, but I'm not certain about that.

We need the site consolidated so all pages reflect GoAskRose.com. Currently some redirect to the other site. It also needs general improvements and enhancement. There are a few forms which aren't functioning properly as well.

This is an urgent need, because there are many people that need this information. Because of this, please let me know how long you feel it will take to fix the basic functionality issues so we can start using the site as intended.

What we're trying to do

We're Operation: Safe Escape, an initiative of the nonprofit group, the Operations Security Professional's Association. We exist to provide safety and security information and resources to domestic violence shelters, safe houses, and advocacy groups, as well individuals impacted by domestic violence.

Our goal is to help victims of domestic violence safely escape their dangerous situation. In order to achieve this goal, we need ambassadors that can work in their local areas and build relationships with the shelters and other groups. We're looking for individuals that are comfortable and capable of representing Operation: Safe Escape and bringing resources to those that need it.

Some of the things we provide (and need your help to get into the shelters/safe houses) are:

• Secure thumb drives pre-loaded with a different operating system, so the person won't get caught searching for shelters or communicating with their support system (it happens a lot)
• Security plans for both public and hidden shelters
• Security guidance and upgrade packages
• Awareness material
• And more

Everything we do is free. We don't charge for anything we create. We don't charge them to send things to them. We don't want anything except to help the people leave their situation.

We need help to get the word out, especially to the shelters and advocacy groups. If nothing else, we at least want to be able to give them a copy of the security plan(s) and let them use anything from it that they need. Let's work together to reach them and make their jobs easier.

About Operation: Safe Escape

By some reports, 85% of domestic violence homicides occur after the victim has decided to leave their abuser. This is a dangerous time, and fortunately many resources exist to keep them safe.

What's missing, unfortunately, is the security layer. That is, how to properly apply Operations Security (OPSEC) to hide the victim's intent to leave. That would keep a lot of people safe and help reduce that number.

Operation: Safe Escape teaches shelters and victims how to identify the behaviors and actions that would tip off the abuser to the fact that they're trying to leave and help reduce the risk until they're safely away.

About the OSPA logo

The OSPA logo is a purple dragon protectively clutching the earth. The purple dragon has a special significance in the OPSEC community, as it was the mascot of the original team that developed the process. In mythology, the dragon is known for protecting treasure; it's often depicted guarding gold or other riches. With OPSEC, the dragon is protecting those things that are important to us. The OSPA logo depicts the "purple dragon" of OPSEC protecting the world.
