We are seeking a graphic designer to design and layout the cover and pages for our Recipes for Learning Cookbook. You will be working with our project manager and team in creating our cookbook that will be used to support our youth development programs in Liberia. Plus you will be part of fun, diverse and passionate team, who are dedicated to supporting our programs focused on education and vocational training in Liberia.
The page layout will include:
- Cover design
- Information about Uniting Distant Stars
- Recipes
- Photos of students and recipes (see photo for this posting)
- Index
- Other pages as determined
Desired Experience & Skills:
- Passion to serve
- Work well independently and with teams.
- Meet with the cookbook team to determine the scope of a project.
- Develop images that would promote the organization's work in Liberia.
- Create graphics for the cookbook cover, section pages and other areas as needed.
- Layout graphics, images, logo, content, and brand colors using appropriate design & publishing software.
- Some experience working with design software.
- Willingness to make recommendations on how to showcase or display the cookbook.

Uniting Distant Stars(tm), Inc. is co-founded by Kelvin Fomba (Liberian) and Heather Cannon-Winkelman (U.S. Citizen). Since 2011, we have developed our shared vision to raise the aspirations of Liberian youth and guide them towards success. We provide scholarships, school supplies, after school study classes through our learning center, youth exchanges via Google Hangout, and vocational training to youth in Liberia.
We promote creative and innovative thinking to inspire our youth to reach for the stars. Through these efforts, more doors for future employment and entrepreneurship will open for Liberia’s young men and women.
