PLEASE NOTE: We have had several people respond to this opportunity. We will evaluate all logo drafts on July 28, 2017, and make a final decision. We would welcome anyone else who would like to submit a draft for consideration before that date.

The Brownwood Library is seeking to start a 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. This is a wonderful program done by libraries across the country to encourage families to read together. (Read more about it here: https://1000booksbeforekindergarten.org/1000-books-before-kindergarten-program/)

As part of this, we are designing the promotional materials and reading logs. We would like a unique logo to brand our new program. The sky’s the limit, but some of our favorites of other libraries we’ve seen are with cute animals reading books. We also like ones where familes are reading together (even if they are animal families), as this is largely about parents (siblings, grandparents, etc.) reading to the little ones. Though not required, Texas animals would be wonderful. (Ringtail cat, armadillo, skunk, horned lizard, Longhorn cattle, bat, etc.)

Here are some examples of logos we like (in a rough order of our favorites):

  1. Jasper County Public Library: http://www.myjcpl.org/sites/default/files/imagecache/blogpostlarge/images/page/2016/04/54382/purple-squirrel-web-slide.jpg
  2. Warwick Library: https://www.warwicklibrary.org/sites/default/files/images/fox_logo.jpg
  3. Schlow Library: https://www.schlowlibrary.org/sites/default/files/styles/medium/public/1000%20BBK%20Logo.png?itok=L-uwF8Wo
  4. Sprindale Library: https://springdalelibrary.org/images/kids/1000bookssmall.png
  5. St. Joseph Public Library: http://www.sjplnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/1000.jpg
  6. Mesa County Library: http://mesacountylibraries.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/1000-Books-Logo-1024x428.jpg
  7. Arrowhead Library: https://1000books.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/1kb4k-large.png
  8. Rockingham Library: http://rockinghamlibrary.org/images/1klogo.png
  9. St. Louis County Library: https://www.slcl.org/sites/default/files/ad-block-1000-books-before-kindergarten-logo-480x320.jpg

It would also be great if the logo designer could also create a few extra images that we could use in promotional materials. For example, here is the main logo: https://www.warwicklibrary.org/sites/default/files/images/fox_logo.jpg but they also have additional art to use such as:

  • http://www.blackstone.lioninc.org/wp-content/uploads/Fox-231x300.jpg
  • http://www1.youseemore.com/saluda/images/fox%20with%20mom.jpg
  • https://www.morleylibrary.org/images/morley/children/1000booksfaq.jpg
