Thriving Downtown provides assistance to San Diego’s downtown seniors living on fixed incomes who have limited social resources. Many live in isolation without family or friends available to turn to. We strive to do whatever we can to help them maintain their independence. We are looking for reliable volunteers to transport seniors to medical appointments, assist with basic shopping and accompany them on errands.

We all value independence. As we get older, it becomes more difficult to maintain as we face more health and mobility challenges. Some of us choose to forfeit driving privileges as a matter of safety or practicality. Providing an occasional ride to a medical appointment or assistance in picking up groceries, can make the difference for a senior. Thriving Downtown seeks to enable elderly clients to live independently, minimizing health emergencies and costly extended care stays. All Thriving Downtown assistance is provided at no-cost to seniors.
