National Gathering of American Indian Veterans

In giving your time and effort, you will walk away with the experience of hearing a hidden history, and connecting with the American Indian community through honor ceremonies. Hear traditional and contemporary music and song. Help us celebrate the lives of over 156,000 Native veterans who have served since the birth of the U.S.A.

Their untold story interlocks with the lives of every American. Learn why the eagle staff, the first flag of this nation, is a part of your own story, as are the peoples of the First Nation. Come hear codetalkers and their families' stories.

Over the span of three days, you can choose when to participate in the largest gathering of Native veterans in the country. Tasks may include:

  • Setting up tables, chairs, booths on Friday
  • Decorating on Friday
  • Serving dinner or breakfast to honor them in the traditional way on Saturday or Sunday
  • Provide a wide variety of hospitality services such as assist during ceremonies, transportation, answer questions, watch for opportunities to help in many ways on Saturday or Sunday.
  • Families are welcome to volunteer and then stay to enjoy the free event.
Throughout the weekend, we will have flexible volunteer hours and opportunities (we do not require you to stay for the full day, although that would be wonderful)---to see all of them, please visit:
