Jewish Family and Child Service’s Friendly Visitor program matches community volunteers with isolated individuals who seek companionship. Volunteers visit weekly at the client’s home, where they visit, play games, or work on projects together. They also may go out and do activities such as shopping or dining, with each person paying their own way. We currently have three clients looking for a friendly visitor to spend a few hours with them each week!

  • An elderly man who recently moved into an assisted living facility would like someone to visit with once a week or every other week.
  • An elderly client has recently stopped driving and needs help shopping and getting to appointments. She would also like to socialize and spend some time out of the house.
  • An older adult with a significant visual impairment would like someone to socialize with once a week and sometimes accompany him to services at Shaarie Torah synagogue.

Caring and meaningful relationships reduce the risk of depression and enhance quality of life-make a difference in as little as an hour a week!
