Being a hospice volunteer requires a willingness to share of yourself and connect with patients and families on a very profound level at a very meaningful season, end of life. Hospice care affirms life, empowering patients to celebrate the lives they have lived and honoring their wishes. As a hospice volunteer, you walk alongside the patient and the family on this journey.

Hospice Family Care is looking for compassionate sharing hearts to visit with patients and support families facing life-limiting illness. Volunteer visits not only profoundly enhance the quality of our patient's lives but also enable families to keep their loved ones at home, around the people they love, and the things they love.

Volunteers offer companionship to patients by reading a book, taking a walk, playing a game, or simply by being present to listen to or hold the hand of a patient to ease their mind and comfort their spirit. Volunteers provide relief for family caregivers, running errands or doing light housekeeping, freeing them to spend quality time with their loved one.

Volunteering takes no advanced medical training or great commitment.. it is simply a gift of YOURSELF! We encourage volunteers to share their special talents, whether it is music, baking, gardening, or art that may be your gift. We believe in a holistic approach to care that addresses physical, spiritual and emotional care by our professionally-trained hospice care team. Our volunteers are an integral part of that team!

Volunteer candidates go through interview and screening processes to ensure the safety of our patients and their families. Hospice volunteers are given assignments that best suit their time, skills and interests. Hospice Family Care provides comprehensive training, supervision and appreciation for our volunteers.
