Volunteering for KEEN is fun and provides the opportunity for one-to-one work with some terrific kids and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities. At KEEN Sings, KEEN Kids learn simple songs and dance moves, play musical instruments, and become part of a group choir. Volunteers don't need any prior experience working with individuals who have disabilities - we'll train you on your first day of participation. Volunteers don't need musical talents, either. KEEN Kids will love you just as you are!
Volunteers will be paired one-on-one with a youth with a disability and will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of music and singing activities. During KEEN Sings, we sing a variety of children's songs ( Old McDonald Had a Farm, Ants Go Marching, If You're Happy and You Know It, etc.). We have simple musical instruments (tambourines, maracas, bells) for participants to use during the session. Everyone sings together as a large group, with volunteers helping kids one-on-one with the activities.
