Do you have a passion for serving others and making a difference in the community, and want to learn skills you can use in a professional career? This opportunity combines both!
The Washington Reading Corps (WRC) member with Catholic Community Services' Youth Tutoring Program (YTP) will provide literacy tutoring to elementary students at the High Point Tutoring Center in West Seattle and at a local elementary school. YTP is a tutoring and mentoring program serving a diverse group of students in low-income housing communities in Seattle. Our mission is to tutor, guide and inspire youth to achieve academic success.
We need you now- school year tutoring is starting September 18th!
In addition to supporting students directly, the WRC member will:
- help with volunteer tutor recruitment efforts
- design literacy events for the community
- support the tutoring center staff and volunteers.
Members serve full time at their service site for 10.5 months, and receive a monthly stipend and an Education Award, upon successful completion.
This is a great professional development for young people who are seeking to make an impact on the lives of others. For more information, visit:
