Want to help our low-income, older neighbors get access to free healthy food? Join us for our Wednesday produce deliveries from the Columbia Heights Farmers Market to low-income seniors in Columbia Heights! Starting on June 5, we will be meeting up every Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 at St. Stephen's for our orientation and to pick up carts for the produce delivery. We then walk over to the farmers market a few blocks away to pick up the bags of produce. From there, we split up into groups to deliver produce to seniors in nearby buildings. You don't need a car to join us.
The seniors we are serving are living off of very low-incomes and may have mobility challenges. Our produce deliveries ensure they do not go hungry and get to eat high quality, nutritional fruits and vegetables.

We Are Family reaches out with services, advocacy, and companionship to isolated, low-income seniors in the Shaw, Columbia Heights, Petworth and Adams Morgan areas of Washington, DC, using a volunteer-driven model, grounded in grassroots senior leadership.
Description
We Are Family serves seniors in the Shaw, Columbia Heights, Petworth, and Adams Morgan neighborhoods of Washington, DC. We bring advocacy, services, organizing, and companionship into the homes of the elderly, while helping to build friendships across boundaries like race, class, religion, age, culture, and sexual orientation.
Most of our work is done by volunteers. While many of those who help do the work of We Are Family are seniors themselves -- who, after all, have built this community -- *we need you as well.* We use volunteer assistance for our outreach and our grocery deliveries to over 1,000 seniors each month.
