ORGANIZATION: HarmonyCares Hospice- Cincinnati

  • 18 people are interested

HarmonyCares Hospice is in need of compassionate people to visit with their homebound hospice patients. Hospice care provides increased services through a person's journey through terminal illness. Volunteers are the heart of the team and provide compassionate listening and companionship that many shut-ins need. All training is provided. All different skill sets are needed too. Can you read out loud, can you talk to another person? Believe it or not these skills are in demand and much appreciated by many older adults who are unable to get out of their homes. You can bring the world to them. We ask that you volunteer once a week for at least an hour. The times and days of the week are completely up to you and your schedule. If you are interested, please contact us at kfox@harmonycares.com.

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of days, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing.

Description

Hospice is the only health care system that mandates the involvement of volunteers. This reflects the history of the hospice movement in the United States, which started as an all-volunteer system.

Hospice is designed to provide comfort care as well as spiritual and emotional support in the final phase of a terminal illness. At HarmonyCares, we focus on enhancing the quality of life and our volunteers play a key role in our mission. The hospice philosophy reaches beyond the physical needs of a patient and ensures that a patient spend their final days in comfort and with dignity.

HarmonyCares Hospice volunteers are as diverse as our professional staff. Compassion and caring are the hallmarks of any great hospice volunteer, and their involvement are a vital part of our team.
