It is a rewarding experience to be a hospice volunteer. To be invited to spend the last months, weeks, and days of a person’s life is an honor and a privilege.

There is often some misunderstandings about what hopsice is. Hospice is about living - helping our patients value each day and to live every moment.

Kindred Hospice is in need of Patient Visitor Volunteers in the New Castle area to visit patients that reside at nursing facilities or in their personal homes.

As a member of the Kindred volunteer team, you have the chance to share your skills and interests in a way that provides comfort and enriches the quality of life for our patients and their families.

Your time could be spent reading and listening to music, watching a football game or attending facility activities with patients.

Time spent as a hospice volunteer is never too much or too little. The most improtant thing you can do is just be there, reassuring them that they are not alone, hold their hand or give them a friendly smile.

All volunteers will receive hospice training, a tuberculosis skin test and have a criminal background check prior to spending time with our patients (There is no cost to volunteers for these activities).
