exercise class

ALA is looking to put our gym to good use! Our seniors are excited to learn from someone who has a physical fitness background. Our goal is to get our residents involved with more physical activity and we need an energetic leader to help us make this possible.

We are looking for a volunteer fitness instructor (you do not need to be certified but please have a fitness backgroud) interested in working with senior residents on improving their health and wellness through exercise, stretching, and basic physical activity. Our beautiful building is located West of Downtown near MacArthur Park. Please be able to commit to at least 3 to 6 months of teaching a one hour exercise class 1 to 2 times a week. Our days and times are flexible (Monday through Friday), but must be consistent on a weeky basis. This opportunity is ideal for a student looking to accrue hours and gain valuable teaching experience. You must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a background check. You must also complete a volunteer application. Please be comfortable working and interacting with the older adult population.

ALA is a non-profit organization that provides community support and real options for seniors to live an independent and productive life. We have two special buildings that are apartment complexes for seniors who are very low income, and half of whom were homeless before coming to ALA. We provide onsite social services for the residents here to help them stay stably housed and thrive in their community.
