AseraCare Hospice is seeking caring and compassionate individuals to volunteer thier time providing terminally ill individuals and thier families with a variety of needs. There are many ways to offer your time and make a difference to those at the end of thier life. Companionship Volunteers spend time providing socialization, accompaniment and engagement with activities, providing a comforting/supportive presence. Vigil Volunteers are available towards the end of life to provide a supportive presence, sit at the bedside or provide caregiver relief to family members.
We welcome any amount of time that a person is willing or able to give towards volunteering, whether its a few hours a month or week. Our program is flexible to meet the availability of the volunteers, as far as training and on boarding to the program. We require a drug screen, background check and 2-step TB - which is all provided by AseraCare. Other requirements are a valid drivers license and current proof of car insurance. There is a simple training, to explore more in depth the hospice philosophy and volunteer role.
Our main office is located in Johnstown and our agency covers Cambria, Somerset and Indiana county. We are seeking volunteers in all areas of service.
