Join us from 9am-1pm Saturday 2/4 and 2/18 as we transform the Burns Latino School with "creative painting." No artistic talent required - this is all about the journey with the student (and the paint)!
You'll paint side-by-side with one of our participating students where you'll informally mentor the student by learning about each other while you paint. Our goal is about the relationship - not getting the paint job done quickly - our kids are learning the skills to be workforce ready. And, you can help.
We'd love a donation from each volunteer, if possible, to underwrite the cost of lunch for you and the kids.

Mission Statement
The Capital City Education Alliance (CCEA Hartford) lays the foundation for workforce readiness by inspiring and empowering pre-teens and teens in Greater Hartford through projects and partnerships that build character, skills, and pathways to success.
Description
In our signature program, Let’s Paint!, currently approximately 25 middle school teens are participating in a beautification project at Burns Latino Community School while receiving workforce readiness training. We use commercial painting as our vehicle to teach the soft skills students need to succeed in school and in the workforce.
We’ve already completed projects on Pope Park Highway and at the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford. Check them out below. The CCEA is excited to help inspire teens to have a sense pride in themselves, their school, and their community in these exciting projects.
Consider getting involved! Every other Saturday (while projects are running), we invite individuals and teams to share a few hours painting with the students, so our students can practice their soft skills and learn about other professions.
Each Tuesday, we also invite corporate or other teams who can take a few hours out of their work or school day to paint side-by-side with our students to share their professions and how school helped facilitate where they are today.
