BECOME A VOLUNTEER OMBUDSMAN

The Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County will train volunteers on the rules, regulations and issues pertaining to the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. Volunteers will also develop an understanding of residents’ rights and regulatory issues.

Volunteer Ombudsmen work to protect the health, safety, welfare and rights of licensed nursing facility and personal care homes residents; ensure timely access to a representative of the program; identify, investigate and resolve complaints made by or on behalf of residents; and support the development of resident and family councils.

Volunteers are required to attend a 36 hour classroom and onsite training to receive state certification and must attend ongoing in-service trainings throughout the year. Certification training is provided by the Ombudsman program at NO COST and our staff Ombudsman Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to select a facility location that is convenient for you!
