Be a HOSPICE VOLUNTEER!

Hospice volunteers have the opportunity to make an enormous difference in the lives of others.

We cover southwestern Pennsylvania and have specific needs in Beaver, Clarion, Butler, Armstrong and Lawrence counties so you can stay close to home.

So, exactly what does a hospice volunteer do?

Amedisys volunteers may read aloud to patients, assist with office paperwork, help with errands - there are a wide range of possibilities which can be easily tailored to your interests and abilities. Some other typical volunteer activities include: playing checkers, cards, or board games with facility residents, assisting with painting, knitting and other craft projects, writing letters, providing caregivers with a break, weekend support phone calls to patients and family members, singing hymns, painting fingernails and the list goes on...

Amedisys provides quality services to those we're privileged to care for; our philosophy is that hospice volunteers are an important part of the caregiver team. To insure that our patients get the very best care, we have a few requirements of hospice volunteers:

• A background check (we will run at no cost to you)
• A TB test (which we will also be at no cost to you)

Also required is completion of our training program which will give you ALL the information and tools you'll need to have a great experience.
