The role of the Community Hospice Liaison would be to create interorganizational bridges within the community. For example, someone who is passionate about Art Therapy can become a Hospice Liaison to that modality. Our team will consider any modality which would add psychological and/or spiritual palliation to our patients. A few other examples could be Mindfulness, Meditation, Pet Therapy, Wilderness Therapy, Equine Therapy, Aromatherapy, Reiki, and Dance Therapy. Applicants are encouraged to express their own original creative ideas.

An ideal Hospice Volunteer Liaison would have a wellspring of passion and creativity. This opportunity is best suited for someone who not only has a deep sense of compassion for the terminally ill, but also the virtue of initiative. Three hours a week, three weeks out of a month, for six months would be the minimum required time commitment for this opportunity.

The first step of this process would be to send an introductory proposal of intent. Please explain which modality you are looking to bridge with Hospice and Palliative care in a minimum of two paragraphs. At least a couple of sentences describing your core motivation would also be encouraged. We would schedule a good time to meet and discuss further upon approval of your proposal. The last required step before you could get out in the field would be to complete a training in hospice philosophy, history, regulation, and HIPAA. I would estimate an average of fourteen hours needed for this, though the grand majority could be done at your own time and convenience. Please reach out to us if you would like to schedule a conversation to clarify the goals and requirements for this opportunity. Thank you!
