Transportation

Volunteers are needed to help older adults with transportation. Transportation locations include trips to the doctor, grocery store, church, bank, etc. We offer flexible scheduling!

This is a great opportunity for individuals with free time, retired individuals, families, business professionals, college students, businesses, church groups, service groups, and more!

Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN), a Family Service Rochester program, exists to help older adults remain living independently in their homes. We match volunteers with older adults in their neighborhood to provide a variety of services including transportation, light housekeeping, and seasonal yard work.

To qualify to be a transportation volunteer, you must meet or have the following requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Current vehicle insurance

Description

Family Service Rochester (FSR) is a community-based, nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of services addressing mental health, child wellbeing, family stability, and senior independence.

FSR was founded in 1965 with a staff of three and the mission to support and enhance the dignity and quality of life for individuals and families in the community. From that small start-up offering counseling and homemaker services, the agency has grown to provide more than 30 programs to meet ever-changing community needs. Volunteers are vital to excellent service delivery to those individuals and families we work with.
