Shoreline: On-Call Volunteer

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Services

A volunteer with Volunteer Service!

We are looking for 10-20 on-call volunteers to assist with one-time requests. Every week, an email is sent out filled with requests. (Read below for examples.) Volunteers can sign up for any requests that appeals to them and can schedule with clients for days and times that work for both parties. Though there certainly opportunities near your work, home or school, the further you are willing to travel, the more individuals you will get to meet!

Wallingford: Anyone with a truck or a trailer to take debris to the transfer station? We had a group project and there are about 15-20 bags of yard waste that needs to go. Would you be willing to take it?

Near Central Market Shoreline would like help with trimming her shrubs.

Anyone interested in mowing and has a mower? We have several folks who are needing their lawn mow every two weeks. Or weed whack for those yards that have not been tended to in a while?

We have a couple of folks in Ballard/Crown Hill. A couple by Northgate and Shoreline.

Haller Lake, is there anyone available to take a look at a child’s bike that may need some work on its brakes? This family has gone through several threats of evictions, and recently had their car vandalized (set on fire) and they just need help with little things. Both daughter and mother are dealing with mental health diagnoses. She also would like rides for errands: groceries, bank and picking up contacts.

Near Central Market Shoreline, needs a ride to the grocery store and food bank twice a month. Is anyone available?

Near Northgate, even though client is suffering from her own health challenges, she is caring for a young grandchild after her daughter was unable to care for the child. The client also takes care of her mother on the weekends. She is simply overwhelmed with chores and only uses plastic utensils and paper plates as she is unable to stand for long periods of time to do dishes. Can you come and help with chores?

Queen Anne, client would like help with housework and laundry. She is legally blind and has been without a volunteer for a year. If anyone can assist that would be great!

Near Northgate, client is having open heart surgery in July and would like a volunteer to help with laundry and housework when she arrives home. Volunteer choosing this option will need to have strong boundaries of not providing personal care. She also has a hospital bed that her mother used to have. She needs someone to program a remote that goes with the hospital bed.

Volunteer Services, a program of Catholic Community Services, assists low-income elders and persons living with disabilities. Volunteers can provide assistance with light housecleaning, transportation, grocery shopping, home repair and yard care. With a little help from volunteers, clients can continue to live independently in their homes.

Due to the vulnerable population we serve, volunteers must complete an application form, pass a Washington State Patrol check and attend an orientation.
