New Story is a global crowdfunding platform that enables anyone to directly fund safe homes for families around the world. We are a Y Combinator portfolio company that has funded over 250 homes in 14 months. Learn more about us here.
New Story is looking for writing volunteers to work with us this summer! Writers take raw data from our on-ground partners in Haiti, El Salvador, and Bolivia to create narratives for each family eligible for New Story funding. Writers can work remotely or in our SF office, and commit to writing 5-10 profiles each week (that’s about 2-5 hours). Here is an example of a family story written by a current volunteer.
The best candidates will be excellent writers with a passion for social impact, community building, and technology.

Mission Statement
New Story transforms slums into sustainable communities through our technology platform.
Description
New Story funds homes through out transparent crowdfunding platform. We then use those funds in partnership with local non-profits to turn slums into thriving communities. We currently work in Haiti, Bolivia, and El Salvador where in under 2 years, we have funded over 250 homes.
Homes are a foundation for prosperity. Not only do they provide privacy and shelter - but they positively impact education, health, and income opportunities. New Story thinks about our solution holistically, which is why we focus on whole communities in addition to the homes within.
