SHINE is a volunteer program run by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. We train volunteers to provide information and counseling on Medicare, supplemental insurance, prescription drug plans, and financial assistance for premiums and prescriptions. SHINE counseling is free, unbiased, and confidential.

We are seeking volunteers to work in the following counties:

Elder Options serves as the Area Agency on Aging and as an Aging & Disability Resource Center for Mid-Florida serving a sixteen county area including the following counties: Alachua, Citrus, Columbia, Marion, Hernando, Lake, Sumter, Suwannee, Lafayette, Dixie, Union, Gilchrist, Putnam, Levy, Bradford, & Hamilton.
Our goal is to provide easy access to information and resources to help elders remain in their homes and communities.
