The 2019-2020 Homework Help program will be offered from September 9, 2019 through June 11, 2020. Volunteers support students’ success in school by helping them develop literacy and math skills, understand homework assignments, and prepare for college and careers. Volunteers tutor students in various academic subjects and may also specialize in English, math and science.
Most of the students who participate in Homework Help attend elementary and middle schools. Volunteers interact with children and teens in small groups and individually.
We request a volunteer commitment for the entire school year. Volunteers will be scheduled to provide Homework Help once a week when Seattle’s public schools are in session. Those volunteers who have variable job and/or school schedules can be scheduled as substitute Homework Helpers at least twice a month.
We are seeking additional volunteers for the following Homework Help sessions at the Beacon Hill Branch:
Monday, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
We accept applications July through March each year. Please send an email to volunteer@spl.org to request an application and if you have questions. Thanks!
