River City Hospice

Indirect Care Volunteers: assist hospice in a variety of ways, such as office help, deliveries, answering phones, helping with promotional events, etc., but they do not have one-on-one contact with patients or families.

Caregiver Volunteers: have direct contact with patients and families and generally do the kinds of things a good friend or neighbor might do, such as sitting with a patient while the caregiver takes a break or providing companionship. Caregiver volunteers need excellent listening and communication skills and must be emotionally mature, dependable, and non-judgmental. Generally, Caregiver volunteers are able and willing to step in and help in a variety of situations.

Our specialized experience can help patients and their families accept the life limiting illness, and effectively address the frustrations and seek personal motivation, peace and comfort. We believe professionally managed Hospice care provides our patient with a comfortable, dignified and supportive experience. Utilizing continuity of care allows for an earlier hospital discharge and provides the patient an opportunity to live the rest of their life the way they choose .... at home with family and friends.

We believe in the basic right of all patients to competent nursing care. Much can be accomplished medically, physically, psychologically and socially to enable patients to lead a more comfortable and functional life. A hospice care plan is designed for each patient utilizing insight from the family, our nurses, hospice team and in conference with the physician.
