Are you a walking enthusiast with a passion for fundraising and research? Do you enjoy harnessing your knowledge of grant-writing to support pedestrian issues and help your community? Do you have 15 hours a month to spend with a rad organization? Then this is the volunteer opportunity for you! Join Oregon Walks as a Development Assistant today!

Benefits of This Volunteer Role: Support Oregon Walk’s work while gaining organizational experience with a local advocacy nonprofit. Develop understanding of transportation issues and community engagement while growing own grant research and reporting, fundraising, and general organizational skills. Increasing Oregon Walk’s capacity to promote walking conditions that are safe, convenient and attractive for everyone throughout the Portland metropolitan region.

Fundraising & Membership Committee: Maintains and pursues sustainable funding to operate and grow Oregon Walks.

Meets: Quarterly at Oregon Walks HQ: 1805 NE 2nd Ave.

Volunteer Role and Responsibilities: The Development Assistant supports Oregon Walks Executive Director and Fundraising Committee in preparing reports and other documents for committee meetings, attends meetings and takes notes during meetings, as necessary. The Development Assistant also researches appropriate grant opportunities and works directly with ED to file grant applications, meet grant deadlines, and outline grant benefits.

Time Commitment: Attendance at quarterly committee meetings plus bi-weekly check-in meetings with ED, and independent work (can be in-office or from home). Aprox 15 hrs per month.

Reports to: Oregon Walks Executive Director, Volunteer Coordinator

Qualifications:

Experience: Understanding of grant writing fundamentals; interest in healthy communities and social equity; excellent written communication skills; attention to detail

Technical Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), familiarity with Google Drive, *Sales Force a plus
