People volunteer for a number of different reasons, but mostly because it's a way of giving back. They work on behalf of others without payment for their time and services. In return, hospice volunteers meet people, learn new skills, build relationships, make connections, and improve the quality of life for others during the last phases of life.
- A volunteer creating and delivering flower arrangements always brings a smile to a patient's face.
- A visit from a volunteer to simple sit and talk or listen means the world to our patients.
- A volunteer can make and deliver seasonal gifts to brighten a patient's day.
There are many kinds of Community Home Care & Hospice volunteers. Our volunteers include individuals, families, businesses, youth and school groups, civic organizations and churches. Volunteer candidates go through interview and screening processes to ensure the safety of our patients and their families. All hospice volunteers are given assignments that best suit their time, skills and interests. They're thoroughly trained and supported in the skills they need for their volunteer role. Training includes scheduled sessions, individual training and on-site training for groups and organizations.
