Is your pet a trained and certified therapy animal? Pet Therapy is one of many treatment programs used to help patients with termincal illness. Our hopsice patients located in long term care facilities have 6 months or less to live. Trained volunteers and their certified pets visit our patients bringing joy, warmth and companionship to brighten the last days of life.
Many of our patients have had to give up their pets and miss the casual acceptance that pets give them. It can help fill their lonely days and ease feelings of isolation.
Pets must be at least one year old, be certified through a proper organization, pets must have up to date vaccinations and in good health,and owner of the pet must go through hospice training.

Description
As a member of the Hospice team, our volunteers offer companionship and supportive care to the patient and/or the family, this may be by reading, playing music, sitting quietly, hand holding, or any number of ways that the vounteer to assist the patient or family.
AseraCare Hospice has patients in nursing facilities and private homes in the Greater Boston area including North Shore and South Shore areas. Volunteers will be placed in area's accesible to their home or work.
