Ever been intersted in working in a live repair shop, whether working on auto mechanics or ?
All our operational equipment (locomotives, railway coaches, skylifts, etc), require regular maintenance, and its all done by our volunteers! Volunteers can be expected to work on a host of different projects, whether installing a new bell for the caboose, maintaining the locomotive for passenger service, or even creating new interactive exhibits for the museum, for example!
It is not necessary to have any mechanical aptitude, but it couldn't hurt to have any either!
We work typically Tuesday through Saturday, starting at 8 AM and finishing around 2 PM with a 45 minute lunch break, depending on the project requirements.
We ask that you bring work attire you can change into in our locker room. Minimum requirements are some sort of work pants, shoes with composite toe (steel toe not required but fine), and no jewlery nor accessories that dangle or risk being caught in rotating machinery.
Thank you! Hope to see you at the shop real soon!

Mission Statement
Friends of the Nevada Southern Railway, Inc. support the Nevada State Railroad Museum at Boulder City, NV through staffing, docent presentations, maintenance of and operation of railroad equipment and restoration of historic railroad equipment, all to the education and benefit of the public and Museum visitors.
Description
The Friends of the Nevada Southern railway are the lifeblood of the museum operations in Boulder City. The Friends run the locomotives, maintain the equipment, create community opprotunities, and help create new exhibits and attractions on site. Whenever one visits the museum, more often than not the public only sees our volunteer staff. The organization had its foundation in 2007, but members have been working with museum staff since the museum's conception in 1985! We love the opprotunity to help preserve Nevada's railroading history, and welcome those who wish to join us!
