Lutheran Hospice is recruiting volunteers! Here at Lutheran Hospice, our trained volunteers are an integral part of the hospice team devoted to fulfilling the values, goals & wishes of our patients & families. Whether you are interested in direct patient care, administrative tasks, or want to provide a professional service, you are making a big difference in the lives of our patients & loved ones.
Direct Patient Volunteers help to provide companionship, socialization & emotional support to patients & caregivers in their homes & facilities. Whether reading, sharing conversations or simply sitting with a patient, you are helping to provide a therapeutic presence & sense of comfort.
Our Administrative Volunteers help to provide organizational/clerical support to assist the care team. This includes answering phones, mailings and medical records, calling home patients to make sure they are "tucked in" for the weekend, or making birthday, anniversary, sympathy and every day cards for our patients and families.
Specialty Volunteers help to provide specific support to patients & caregivers where they live. This incluces sewing or knitting blankets, music & art, massage therapy, hair & nail services or pet therapy.
If you are interested in providing support to our patients & families, please consider volunteering at Lutheran Hospice.

Mission Statement
Lutheran Hospice, under the direction of professional health care providers, pledges to offer those who are sick and dying, as well as their families, palliative and holistic care, allowing the individual an opportunity to spend his/her last days of life comfortably, with dignity, respect, self-determination, surrounded by family and considerate caregivers at home or in a home-like atmosphere. The hospice also promises to be faithful to the family by embracing them in care and guiding them through the psychological and emotional distress so often experienced, realizing that above all else, there are unique circumstances and spiritual concerns which need to be respected and addressed, not only at the death of a loved one, but in the days of bereavement that follow.
Description
Lutheran Hospice is a non-profit ministry based program that provides care and support to members of our community who are facing end of life. During the final months and weeks of life, patients and their caregivers/family members often need understanding and specialized care from people who understand the complex problems, issues and emotions that occur during this timeperiod. Spiritual, physical (medical), and emotional support are provided by a highly trained team of professionals and volunteers.
