The Community Hospice Volunteer program specially trains their volunteers for a variety of positions which include everything from direct patient care services to helping with administrative duties in our offices. Training, background check and TB testing are provided at no cost. We currently have patients in Alamance, Guilford and Forsyth Counties that could use a friendly face.

Volunteers can give as much or as little time as their schedules allow. There is not a set number of hours required. As patient/family needs differ so does volunteer hours. Whether you have a few minutes or several hours to give, this is a great program for you as it can be flexible.

Our volunteers serve in many capacities:

    • Clerical Volunteers assist with administrative needs in our office, including filing, data entry, assistance with mailings, making phone calls, etc.
    • Direct Patient Care Volunteers visit our patients in nursing facilities or in their homes, providing companionship, emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. They may provide respite care, assist with errands, and much more.
    • Tuck-In Volunteers call our patients on a regular basis, particularly prior to weekends or holidays, to ensure that they have adequate supplies, in an effort to preclude any emergencies.
    • As Needed Volunteers provide assistance on a one-time basis, as their schedule allows. They might provide respite, assist with errands, shopping, or assist with housework.
