Inspect apparel, shoes and/or accessories for quality, hang, and price. Stock items ready for sale to the sales floor. Maintain the visual standards and cleanliness of the sales floor. Help to organize and cleanup work stations at the end of a shift.

Scheduling is flexible: We recommend starting out with one 3-4 hour shift per week.

The Mercer Island Thrift Shop is a nonprofit business that values a culture of community involvement, solid employee development, and reducing our community footprint on the planet through resale; the best form of recycling. As a bustling group of 65 volunteers, management team and work study students, we are proud that we provide the major source of funding for Mercer Island Youth & Family Services (MIYFS).If you’re looking for a positive place to learn and grow, this position is a great foot in the door to a nonprofit mission that touches every generation in our community. We provide hands-on training and a reference handbook to help you get started. You can use our online app to schedule your shifts and time away or we can manage your specified times for you. MITS is a fun, fast paced environment with a diverse work force from youth to seniors. Volunteer benefits include progressive discounts for the number of hours you work, job training, work references, volunteer recognition events, free coffee, tea, soda and a snack bar.

The primary mission of Mercer Island Thrift Shop is to raise money to support the programs of Mercer Island Youth and Family Services (MIYFS).

Description

Founded in 1970, Mercer Island Youth and Family Services is a department of the City of Mercer Island providing a variety of human services for Mercer Island citizens. The mission of MIYFS is "to provide, coordinate and advocate for affordable, high quality human services for the citizens of Mercer Island". Our philosophy is that coordinated community resources can help build stronger and healthier families and community by enhancing strengths, identifying problems and choices and sharing resources.

Assistance - We provide a safety net for Island residents experiencing a crisis.

Support -We provide programs that improve the health and well being of all Island residents.

Development - We empower Islanders to grow, enrich and strengthen our community.
