The Mission of Hospice Community Care is to provide dignified end-of-life care and quality services that allow our patients and their families/significant other to live life richly, deeply and meaningfully for as long as it may last, and to die with dignity in the setting of their choice.

Some of our patients are in assisted living facilities or nursing homes and do not have the opportunity to spend quality time with their beloved pet. No other companionship can compare to that of an animal, who loves unconditionally and sees past a patient's sickness to bring joy to the patient, if only for a few brief moments one or two times a month.

Do you own a dog that is certified as a therapy dog through an organization such as Delta? Would you like to see your dog bring joy to people who are unable to visit with their own pet? Hospice Community Care has a great need for certified therapy dogs to visit our patients at various locations throughout the Richmond/Tri-Cities area, particularly in Chesterfield, North Chesterfield, Glen Allen, Short Pump, City of Richmond and Chester. You will need to provide proof that your dog is a certified therapy dog and up to date with all shots and you will need to undergo hospice volunteer training as the dog's handler.

Does this volunteer opportunity sound appealing to you? Please call Cynthia Anderson, Volunteer Coordinator, Hospice Community Care at 1-800-409-9094. You can also send an email to cynthialvereen@gmail.com.

*You must be 18 years of age to participate*

Description

Hospice Community Care has been providing excellent end-of-life services for Richmond area residents and their families since 2004.

Hospice Community Care uses an interdisciplinary team approach to provide quality hospice services to patients and families throughout our service area. Hospice Community Care has become the hospice provider of choice because of our reputation for impeccable customer service, friendly, knowledgeable and comforting staff, and unique delivery methods that meet the medical, physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of our patients and their loved ones.

It would be impossible to meet all of the needs of our patients and their loved ones were it not for our exemplary volunteers who donate hundreds of hours of their gift of time every year. We have several exciting opportunities to offer people who are considering volunteering with hospice.

Volunteers must have a current driver's license and auto insurance as well as a clean driving records. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. We will train you for the volunteer position that best suits you.
