Homework Club Leader: 2018-2019 School Year
Use your leadership skills to support local students as a Homework Club Leader!
Our Homework Club provides after-school assistance for K-8th grade students at different San Jose Public Library branches. East San Jose Carnegie is searching for a Leader that can supervise Homework Club Coaches, maintain volunteer and student records, assist in homework completion, and engage children in productive and interactive learning activities after they complete their homework.
This an excellent opportunity to provide an important service in the East San Jose community. Bilingual skills (Spanish or Vietnamese) are highly desired, but not required.
We are looking for a 9 month commitment on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm.
Qualifications
- Age 18 or older (21 or older preferred)
- Fingerprint clearance required for volunteers 18 or over
- Experience with tutoring and/or youth
- Ability to develop and work with a team
- The ability to think on your feet and have some fun!

Description
Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
