ORGANIZATION: Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County

Our agency serves hospice & home care patients in their homes: private residences, care facilities, and the Hospice Care Center. Many of these people, often elderly, people once had a canine companion, and they are often comforted by having a trained pet visitor and its handler come to visit. If your dog is already certified as a therapy dog, we would love to have you and your dog volunteer with us!

You, as the handler, will also need to complete a volunteer training program. Visits are no more than 4 hours/week. You may be assigned on an ongoing basis, or make 1x visits as requested.

About Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County

Location:

1615 75th St SW, Everett, WA 98203, US

Mission Statement

As expressions of God’s healing love, witnessed through the ministry of Jesus, we are steadfast in serving all, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

Description

Volunteers with Providence Hospice and HomeCare of Snohomish County help provide emotional and practical support to those who are facing a terminal illness. We serve patients and families throughout Snohomish county, wherever they may call home (private residence, nursing facility, adult family home, etc.) Volunteers can serve in their own community. Volunteers may help by providing companionship for patients, respite for caregivers, transportation to appointments, assistance with errands such as grocery shopping, and much more. Complementary Therapists also provide massage therapy, music therapy, animal-assisted interactions, meditation, and other modalities to provide comfort to patients. Volunteers also provide support to our bereaved family members through one-on-one listening support, co-facilitating a children, teens or adult grief group, or as a volunteer at Camp Erin (an overnight, weekend camp for children and teens who have lost a loved one). In addition, volunteers help support our mission through administrative work in our offices.
