Helping elementary and middle school children with their homework. Assisting with easy crafts. Playing board games with the children. Our program is Monday thru Friday 3:00 to 5:30 pm.
We also provide a hot meal each day along with a later snack.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life, retired teachers and other retirees, parents, neighbors, college students and high school students.
Volunteering is very rewarding. I think you would enjoy it. All our volunteers now and in the past have found it a rewarding experience.

Description
Holy Spirit’s Dove’s Nest after school Program started in 2001 with homework help and snacks. A few years later, we got together with The Greater Berks Food Bank and started a "Kids Cafe" with free meals for all children. For many years we gave out a Food Bank sponsored "Weekender Bag" in which there was enough food for a child to get through the weekend.
Well, this year 2018-2019 school year the Dove’s Nest of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church and the Olivets Boys & Girl’s Club are partnering together to make a great program even better.
Our program will be open Monday through Friday 3:00 - 5:30pm throughout the school year. This year we will offer a meal, homework help, Reading help, Crafts, Snacks, play games and be a safe haven for kids. A large amount of our helpers are volunteers. All volunteers will receive forms for Clearances in which you will be given out by our staff.
