Since 2003, the Elder Rights Center of Excellence has focused the energy and experience of our volunteers on serving senior victims of crime in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. All services are provided free of charge.
As a Senior Advocate Volunteer, you will provide important assistance by helping senior crime victims recover from the incident through advocacy, compensation claims, information on the legal process, and referrals to additional community resources. The ideal volunteer possesses a strong desire to help others recover from crime as seamlessly as possible.
You will be doing essential advocacy work such as reviewing police reports and contacting victims by telephone to let them know of a variety of options available to them. Some of our volunteers present to community groups on topics such as preventing fraud, scams, and identity theft. We create unique positions for our volunteers based on their skills and interests. We provide all training needed. No experience is necessary.
Our volunteers enjoy socializing with staff and fellow volunteers. You are encouraged to attend our professional development workshops, social events, and staff meetings - you are part of our ADRC community!

Description
Area Agency on Aging is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving seniors, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers. We plan for and fund services for the people we serve through a network of care providers throughout Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties. Through our Helpline, we provide services and information on aging issues, advocacy, one-on-one assistance, and a host of services that help seniors maintain their independence.
For more than 25 years we have been helping seniors, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers. Services are available to the entire community regardless of ability to pay.
