Would you like to help veterans remain in their home? Are you looking for a way to further your education while gaining valuable training and hands-on experience? Would you like to help your child or grandchild with their school loans or tuition? Are you ready to become part of a team that makes a difference?

If you answered YES, you might be interested in joining Idaho's Legacy Corps Volunteer Team!

Legacy Corps Volunteer Members receive:
*Monthly taxable Living Allowance ($167 per month)
*Educational Award at the completion of service year (over $1,500)
Good for up to 7 years at any Title IV Institute of Learning
Transferable to a child/grandchild when Legacy Corps member is over 55
May be applied for repayment of student loans
*Up to 90 hours of excellent training
*Skills and experience transferable to the workforce.
*Membership on a dynamic team dedicated to community service

Legacy Corps Volunteer Members commit to:
*One year of service (November 2016- October 31, 2017)- 450 hours of service
*Complete an application/interview process
*Participate in criminal and sex offender back ground checks
*Participate in a national evaluation study
*Provide 10-12 hrs./week caregiver support, must have minimum 2.5 weekdays available for service
*Must have reliable tranpsortation
*Must have basic computer skills and access to a computer

Aging Strong Programs are housed under Jannus Inc, a non-profit health and human services organization helping individuals, families and communities in transition. Jannus changes lives through caring volunteers and a portfolio of diverse programs that promote health, advance policy and create opportunity.

Description

Aging Strong Programs provide volunteer opportunities through the Legacy Corps program as well as the Foster Grandparent program. Legacy Corps is a volunteer-powered program supporting family caregivers and older adults with an emphasis on the unique needs of veteran and military families. Highly trained, vetted and committed volunteers provide companionship respite each week. The Foster Grandparent program brings multi-generational learning to local classrooms. 55 + adult volunteers provide tutoring and mentoring, in person or online! Both of these volunteer opportunities are provided through the Aging Strong Program.
