Volunteers have always been one of our most important assets. The community's support is important to all hospitals, but is especially important at Mt. Washington because of the medically fragile children we serve. We need the support of caring individuals to help us carry out our mission.

Welcome Ambassador:

The Ambassadors of MWPH are our welcome and way-finders of the hospital. Ambassadors will man the entry points near the Security desk in the Main Building.

The core duties of the Ambassador are:

  • Greet patients and check that their badges are properly working in our door scanners
  • Assist patients with directions in the hospital or escort them throughout the hospital
  • Provide hospitality to families waiting to see our admissions staff
  • Assist with tasks as our security and front desk staff require
  • Demonstrate our core CARES values to all of the patients, guests and staff

Description

In 1922, a medical social worker named Hortense Kahn Eliasberg sought to open a home where children could safely recover from illness and surgery.

Thanks to her efforts, the Happy Hills Convalescent Home for Children opened later that year in Northwest Baltimore. It has since evolved into the Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, a leader in local pediatric care.

Today, those who work at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital remain committed to the mission Hortense Kahn Eliasberg established so many years ago - improving the health and well-being of all children who are ill, injured, or in need of help.
