Mission Statement
Musica Against Drugs, Inc./The Art Center For Community Healing is a Puerto Rican/Latino, client-driven, community-based organization serving the needs of individuals and families affected by the HIV/AIDS and drug addiction epidemics in the communities of Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Bushwick, Brooklyn. Accordingly, Musica is committed to providing holistic educational, outreach and preventive services that integrate music, art and culture, including non-traditional approaches, as a way of preventive the spread of HIV/AIDS and drug addiction. This commitment is best expressed by the guiding principle Culture also Cures which captures the healing power of culture in the performance of the organization's work. By linking these powerful elements, Musica helps fight indifference and despair using culture as a vehicle to promote self-esteem and awareness of HIV/AIDS issues and substance abuse within the Puerto Rican/Latino community.
