The mission of Entrepreneur Guidance and Training, (EGT), Inc. is to assist low-to-moderate income persons in becoming self-sufficient through entrepreneurship. EGT also strives to provide training programs that encourage personal and economic growth.

EGT's goal is to provide avenues for economic development that have a positive impact on the individual(s) being served and the communities in which they live. We do this through three programs. Working Smart is an 8 week program that trains individuals to write business plans, daily business operation principles and business basics such as management, marketing, business tax, etc. Money for business start-up is provided through a specialized revolving loan fund. EGT administers this program for the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) in partnership with five area banks. The positive affects of the program have been home ownerhip for public housing residents, employment of neighbors, residents become self supporting and no longer receive welfare benefits.Youth Entrepreneur Program: Youth are taught to own and operate a business as a deterent to drugs and drug related crimes.Resident-based Enrichment Program: Residents of public housing are hired to be role models and leaders by coordinating drug prevention and healthy living activities and workshops in their community.
