Shoes for Orphan Souls (SOS), a ministry of Buckner International, provides new shoes and socks to orphans and at-risk children in the United States and throughout the world. From conducting shoe drives to taking humanitarian aid trips, Shoes for Orphan Souls provides hands-on opportunities for individuals, families, groups, and organizations that want to transform lives through social ministry. Since 1999 more than 1.6 million pairs of new shoes and socks have been distributed in over 70 countries. There are 143 million orphans in the world, so while our program has made a difference in many lives, there are still millions of children we can reach -- all through a pair of shoes. Let a child know they have not been forgotten. As a volunteer you will be helping to sort and pack the thousands of shoes received at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid. Your job might include:
* cutting off price tags
* "zip-tying" shoes together
* sorting by gender, size, and type
* counting and packing shoes in shipping boxes
* performing other duties as needed
