| In today’s economic environment, the work nonprofits are doing to fight hunger is more important than ever. And we know that organizations working to end hunger have their own unique challenges to deal with when it comes to recruiting and managing volunteers. |

| So we've teamed up with the Walmart Foundation to give hunger-related nonprofit organizations more support for their missions. |
|

| From now until June 2013, hunger-related organizations will automatically be upgraded, at no cost, to VolunteerMatch’s most effective volunteer recruiting and management tools. |

| We’ve also developed a new series of free web trainings specifically for organizations that mobilize volunteers in the fight against hunger. |

| Maria D'Angelo, founder and CEO, of the Children's Lifesaving Foundation (CLF), recalls how her organization began almost by accident. "I never meant to start a foundation," she says. "It just organically began to happen." |
|
| |
|
| Maria began as a volunteer, serving at a homeless shelter in Los Angeles. She discovered that many of the children she worked with not only lived in poverty, but also hadn't gone to school because they could not afford to get the required physicals or vaccinations. |
|
| |
|
| With the help of medical professionals who volunteered their time, Maria began to offer medical services to low-income families in the area. Thus began the CLF. |
